EduMais Foundation is a fact Almost two years ago EduMais was founded. When it all started nobody had a clue what the EduMais future would look like. Now, we are looking at an impact and size that Diana nor anybody had ever expected or dared to dream of. Two locations and a reach of more than 200 children every week. These projects clearly deserve and are getting a long term orientation. To give them solid grounds we started a foundation. The EduMais foundation! The foundation is founded in the Netherlands. The board is created of people that have seen the projects, live in the Netherlands and have a connection with Rio de Janeiro. To create a group with knowledge about the circumstances in the favelas and understanding of the importance of the projects.
Hereby we proudly present the board.
CHAIRWOMAN Iris Ferwerda started as an intern at EduMais in February 2017. For 6 months she was the right hand of Diana and fell in love with the community. When her internship ended and she needed to move back to the Netherlands stopping to support the children and EduMais was no option. Therefor Iris has been involved from a distance ever since, while graduating from her studies. She is proud and honoured to be a part of the board and looks forward to the years to come.
SECRETARY Yke Eykemans is a researcher on childhood and education. She has conducted several field-studies in Rio de Janeiro. As every dutchie knows each other in Rio de Janeiro she got to know our founder Diana. While living in The Netherlands she happily joins the board. Yke strives to support and think along with Edumais from an anthropological point of view.
TREASURER Marieke Cramer and her family (two daughters and a husband) returned from Rio de Janeiro in January 2018 where they lived for a year and a half. Rio de Janeiro is a wonderful city full of contrasts. While living there she got in touch with EduMais and got inspired by what EduMais does and achieves with our children in the favelas. Now back in Amsterdam, she is more than willing to join the board of the EduMais Foundation and help to build and grow EduMais.
